Seeking Advice on 2023 Renault Arkana Gasoline: Black Smoke, Weak Engine, Increased Fuel Consumption and Suspected Lambda Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
The 2023 Renault Arkana is experiencing issues such as black smoke from the exhaust, a weak and unsteady engine, increased fuel consumption, and a check engine light. These symptoms suggest a potential problem with the Lambda sensor, which might be dirty or clogged. A similar issue was resolved by replacing the Lambda sensor, costing around €375, which improved engine performance and reduced fuel consumption. It is advised to consult a mechanic to confirm the diagnosis and consider the cost of labor for sensor replacement.

Hey, thanks for the insight! My Arkana's been doing 122650 km on the roads so far. Got the 2023 model with a gasoline engine. Serviced it recently too. But the problem persists. Gotta admit, I'm not big on the technical stuff. Just wondering how much it would cost for a new Lambda sensor if cleaning doesn't fix the issue. €375 doesn't sound bad if it gets the car back in peak condition. Thanks!

Hey again! Good to know about your Arkana. I understand not everyone enjoys getting their hands dirty, but sometimes knowing a bit about what's under the hood can save a lot of bucks and headaches. Your mileage tells me your Arkana's been a goer, which can indeed wear down components like the Lambda sensor over time. As for pricing, I paid around €375, yes. But it can fluctuate depending on where you are and your mechanic's rates. Could be more, could be less. Also, consider the cost of labour if opting for a new sensor - that's a significant part of the bill and can sometimes catch you off guard! What really matter is getting it sorted – richest combustion equals more power, more mileage for your gas, and less black smoke bothering you (and mother nature too!). Keep us posted on how you're getting on! Cheers.

You're a lifesaver! I'm starting to see how a little knowledge could actually save my wallet some trouble. Gonna talk to my mechanic about the Lambda sensor. I'll brace myself for the labour cost too, thanks for the heads up! Anyways, I shall keep that in mind about richest combustion, fewer problems, greener run, got it! I appreciate all your advice. Will definitely keep you guys posted. Cheers!

Hey there! I had a very similar issue with my 2021 Renault Megane a while back, so I reckon I've got some experience on this one. I'm no mechanic, but I've dabbled a fair bit with cars. In my case, a preliminary inspection at my local workshop revealed my Lambda sensor needed attention. Turns out, the ceramic inside was dirty and clogged. A full-service clean didn't do the trick, so they recommended replacing it altogether. This set me back about €375, but it resolved the problem. Can you share more details about your Arkana? Things like engine type and size, the type of fuel you're using, and your mileage could come in handy for us to give you more specific advice. Cheers!
