Seeking Advice on 2024 Seat Tarraco's Power Loss, Uneven Idling, Poor Mileage, and Exhaust Problems

Hey folks! I'm having a weird issue with my 2024 Seat Tarraco which runs on gasoline. Lately it's been shutting off by itself, losing power, jerking when I speed up, and idling unevenly — not to mention the terrible gas mileage, strong exhaust smell, and black smoke puffing out when I accelerate. The check engine light is on too. I reckon it might be a dodgy fuel volume regulator, but I need some guidance before I dive in. Has anyone else experienced this? How did you fix this at your workshop? Any shared experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hey, I've had a similar experience with my 2022 Seat Ateca, so we're pretty much in the same leaky boat. My level of car expertise is somewhat low, but here's what I've gathered from my experience. The symptoms you mentioned hardcore remind me of my own experience when my Ateca’s high-pressure pump was on the fritz. My old horse, the Ateca, was manifesting power loss and jerky accelerations too. The nasty smell and black smoke make me strongly suspect that it might be due to a faulty high-pressure pump. I had a nice chit-chat with my local garage mechanic and after a keen inspection, he diagnosed that the high-pressure pump was the villain of my car's story. The damage control cost me around 1510€, but, it saved me from a lot of trouble down the road. But, hey, that's my 2 cents. To give a more comprehensive answer, I'd need to know a bit more about your vehicle. What's the mileage on your Tarraco, any recent maintenance performed, and when was the last time you changed your spark plugs and air filters? Catch you later!

Hey there, thanks for the quick reply! Appreciated the experience sharing and your advice. My Tarraco has been through a fair few rides - it's currently at 168579 KM on the clock. As far as maintenance goes, I haven't done any recent major service except for the usual oil and filter change during my last service couple of months back. You might be onto something about the spark plugs and air filters though. I'm not entirely sure when I last swapped 'em out. Taking your advice into consideration, I reckon I'll pop down the local garage for a thorough diagnostic. Fingers crossed it won't drill a hole in my pocket. Cheers for the heads up!

Hey again, glad my earlier message was of some help! With that many kilometers under the hood, your Seat Tarraco has definitely seen some action. Based on your mileage and symptoms, it'd be a smart move to get those spark plugs and air filters checked pronto. Just like in my Ateca, the high-pressure fuel pump issue is a strong contender but, considering the mileage, worn out plugs or a dirty air filter could just as likely be contributing to poor fuel combustion, hence the black smoke. I know the feeling of fearing the big hole in the pocket, been there! But trust me, tackling the issue now will likely save you more drastic and costly repairs down the line. Here's hoping it's just a regular maintenance thing and doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Also, remember to mention all symptoms to your mechanic when you go for the check-up, sometimes one odd thing can lead them to a diagnosis you wouldn't have thought of. Wishing your Tarraco a speedy recovery. Keep us in the loop after your visit to the garage, will ya? Take care!

Hi again! Absolutely, the sage wisdom is to get these issues ironed out sooner rather than later. A stitch in time and all that jazz, right? You're spot-on about regular maintenance possibly being the key - it's been a minute since those plugs and filters had a look in. Without a doubt, I'll keep your words close and relay everything, symptoms 'n all, to my mechanic. Oftentimes, the devil is indeed in the details! Thanks heaps for the encouragement and kind thoughts for my ol' Tarraco. I'll keep you and the others posted on the what, why and how much after I pay a visit to the garage. Take it easy and cheers again!
