Seeking Advice on Brake Issues and Sensor Failure in 2012 Nissan Pixo

Hey folks, my 2012 Nissan Pixo (gas, 181373 KM) is throwing me for a loop. Got some serious brake issues - ABS light won't quit, pedal's like a brick, ABS/DSC are AWOL, brake light and speedometer light are on the blink. I'm suspecting the brake pedal position sensor's kaput. Had a nasty run-in with a dodgy mechanic last time. Anyone else dealt with something similar? What was your course of action and how was your visit to the garage? Cheers!

Summary of the thread

A 2012 Nissan Pixo is experiencing brake issues, including a persistent ABS light, a hard brake pedal, and malfunctioning ABS/DSC systems. The suspected cause is a faulty brake pedal position sensor. A similar case involved corroded wires and a failed ABS module, which were replaced to resolve the issue. It is suggested to inspect both the sensor and ABS module to address the problem effectively.

Hey, Your problem sounds a bit like what I dealt with on my own 2014 Nissan Note a while back. ABS light wouldn't shut off, pedal tighter than a bear trap. Turns out, it was both the ABS module and brake pedal position sensor on the fritz. I know your pain with those mechanics. My last visit to the garage, the guys checked the entire braking system. They found some corroded wires connected to the sensor and ABS module that needed replacement. Also, they discovered that the ABS module had packed up its bags and gone on a holiday. So, they replaced that. Honestly, it wasn't a quick and easy fix. But once they sorted out the sensor and module, things got back to the normal safe driving. Hope this helps. Might have your guy look into your ABS module as well as that sensor. Good luck!

Hey there, Wow, your situation seems eerily alike. Good to know that even though it wasn't a cake-walk, they managed to set things back on the rails. If you don't mind me asking, do you remember what the damage was to your wallet? Also, were there any subsequent issues or nasty surprises after the fix? Cheers!

Hey, Yeah, I can't deny, it wasn't exactly the smoothest ride, but we got there eventually. As for the cost, lucky for me it turned out to be a bit of a error on my side. So, no expense to worry about - a neat 0€ spent, which is always a welcome surprise for a driver, eh? About further issues, well, since they fixed the brake pedal position sensor and the ABS Module, it's been smooooth sailing. Like brand new! It seems that was the main culprit here. Haven't had any nasty surprises either, touch wood. So not a shabby outcome at all. Hopefully, your own car tales have a happy ending too. Cheers!

Hey, That's a bit of luck inflicting zero damage to the wallet there. With a bit of luck, the story will play out quite the same for me too, touchwood. I'll follow the same trail and have my bloke look at both the sensor and ABS module. Good to know that it's been chugging along fine since. That inspires confidence! Let's see how it goes for me. Thanks for sharing your experience. Cheers!
