Seeking Advice on Faulty A/C System in 2019 Hyundai Eon with Suspected Heat Exchanger Temperature Sensor Issue

Air conditioning blows warm air

A/C System Not Engaging

Insufficient Cooling/Heating

Hey! I'm in a bit of a pickle with my 2019 Hyundai Eon – Gasoline engine no less! The A/C's blowing warm air, not really cooling or heating properly, and it seems like the A/C system isn't getting engaged at all. I've got this hunch that it might be something to do with a faulty heat exchanger temperature sensor, but I'm no expert. Any of you ever had a similar issue? How have you managed to get it sorted at your workshop? Any tips or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Hey there! I kind of faced a similar problem with my 2017 Hyundai i10 a while back. Not a car expert here, just have some basic experience. Got told that the Air Conditioning Control Unit was faulty. The thing needed replacing and it wasn't something I was confident doing myself. My go-to garage got it sorted for me. Cost me a pretty penny though, 980€ in my case. I remember they mentioned that there might be a warranty or a recall in place. Might be worth checking the vehicle's VIN number for any recalls, just to be safe. By the way, can you share more about your car? Like the mileage and whether you have any warnings on your dashboard, this information can help narrow things down a bit.

Hey! Thanks for sharing your experience and the tip about checking for recalls, didn't cross my mind! To answer your questions, my Eon has run about 26631 kilometers so far, pretty well-maintained I'd say. As for dashboard warnings, none, nada, zilch! Fingers crossed that it's not a massive fix. The cost you faced sounds a bit steep, so here's hoping the warranty's got my back!

Hey! Sounds like you've kept your ride in good nick. Truth be told, with your mileage and careful maintenance, air conditioning issues shouldn't pop out of the blue. The fact that there’s no dashboard warnings ties it up, kinda gives some weight your heat exchanger temperature sensor theory. Just for your info, when my A/C went rogue, besides Control Unit replacement, they also checked for refrigerant leakage. Might be worth looking out for refrigerant levels or leaks, could be as simple as needing a recharge! And about the cost, I totally get you. The price indeed gave my wallet a heart attack! But, yeah, do keep tabs on this warranty thingy, you might get lucky. Just out of curiosity: Heard any weird noises or smell anything odd when you blast the A/C? Trust me, sometimes these subtle things lead to gold mines of info! Keep us posted, yeah? I've kinda become emotionally invested in your car troubles now!

No worries! Really appreciate all the advice you've lobbed my way. I'll definitely have a check on the refrigerant levels or leaks at the next garage visit. As for weird smells or noises when the A/C gets turned on, it's all pretty normal - no oddball sounds or whiffs. And I totally get the 'emotionally invested' part, cars can have that effect, don't they? I'll be sure to keep you and all the here updated about how it all pans out. Cheers again for the help and the interest in my predicament! Hopefully, we'll be metaphorically toasting to a sorted heating problem the next time I post. Fingers crossed!
