Seeking Advice on Fixing 2017 Kia Stonic's Electric Seat Error Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Kia Stonic is experiencing issues with its electric seats, which are not functioning consistently. The problem might be related to a stored fault with the passenger electric seat. A similar issue in another vehicle was resolved by addressing a defective battery, suggesting this could be a potential cause. Additionally, loose wiring on the seat motor is another possible cause, and both should be checked to resolve the issue.

Hey, thanks for your input! Could be a similar issue, I reckon. My Stonic has clocked about 166921 KM, got the last service done fairly recently. The odd part is, the issue isn't constant. Some days, the electric seats work just fine and other days they're spotty. It's almost like they have a mind of their own! Honestly, I'm not super savvy with car stuff either, but I'm thinking I might need to get the battery checked out as you suggested. Anything to avoid that 290€ shocker! Cheers for the help!

No worries! Happy to help! A fluctuating problem, eh? Now that's a bit of a conundrum. My Picanto had a steady problem, not on and off like yours. But who knows, cars can be a bit tricky like that, can't they? If I were you, I'd definitely check out that battery issue. Alternatively, it could also be a loose wiring issue on the seat motor, considering the inconsistency you're having. Getting that checked won't hurt. And yeah, dodging that 290 Euro shocker is a definite must! Keep us posted on how it goes! Good luck!

Hats off to you for your help! I'm definitely going to get that battery examined first thing tomorrow, and I'll bring up the potential loose wiring issue with the mechanic too. I'll let you know how it goes. Really appreciate your support in solving this car conundrum! Cheers again!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2015 Kia Picanto a while back, pretty close to your Stonic problem. Just to preface this, my car know-how is at a low experience level, but I like to tinker a bit. Anyway, when I took it to my neighbourhood workshop, my mechanic found that the issue was actually with the battery being defective – not the seat itself. It cost me about 290€ to rectify the issue, kinda stung my wallet but the problem was sorted. Got any further details on your car's issue? That would be super helpful for me to identify if it's similar to my case or not. Hope this helps!
