Seeking Advice on Overheating and Check Engine Light Issue in 2023 Seat Tarraco Gasoline Model

Overheating

Check engine light on

Hey folks, I'm having a bit of a gremlin with my '23 Seat Tarraco, Gasoline model. She's been running hot lately and throwing a check engine light at me. My gut says it might be something with the coolant pump functioning poorly. Anyone else run into this kind of snag before? How did your workshop sort it out? Any insights or advice on troubleshooting this would be stellar. Thanks!

Hey, something very similar happened to my '21 Seat Ateca Diesel not too long ago. I've got some experience with cars, enough to get myself into trouble sometimes, haha. Took it to my local workshop, turns out the culprit was a faulty cable on the pump/control unit. They had to replace the whole thing, set me back about 220 Euro, but it's been running like a dream since. Quick question though, have you noticed any unusual noises or leaks? Wondering if pumps across different Seat models have the same issue. Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more info.

Hey! Really appreciate you sharing your experience with your '21 Ateca - knowing that gives me a good direction to start. Though I haven't specifically noticed any unusual noises or leaks, I'll definitely be more watchful on that front. I'm pretty old school and keep a vigilant eye on my darling, who's now at a mileage of 151567 km. Last service was just a few months back - feels like it was yesterday! Anyway, I reckon I'll plan a trip to the mechanics soon and mention what you said about the potential cable issue on the pump. Again, cheers for the advice, some beer on me if we meet up someday!

No problem at all, happy to help! Even I considered my Ateca my baby, so totally get your affection, haha. Smart move to keep a keen eye on her, I've found that observing and timely maintenance can save me from a lot of headaches down the road. With your '23 Tarraco hitting 151,567 km, it's entirely plausible that she might be victim to some natural wear and tear, coolant pump included. Very likely, your mechanic should be able to sort out if it's truly the cable or anything else causing the overheating. And yeah, do remember to ask him to check for leaks or abnormal noises too, they usually are telltale signs. Keep us updated on how it turns out, always good to add to our collective knowledge bank. Looking forward to taking you up on that beer offer, tell your mechanic to not delay and get your baby back on road ASAP! Best of luck!

You've cinched it! I'm all set to follow your advice. You're right about the natural wear and tear, and I've always believed prevention is better than cure. Makes sense to have her thoroughly inspected. I'll try to set up an appointment with the mechanic soon, and I'll make sure to keep you fellas updated on what happens. The collective knowledge thing definitely makes sense and might save someone else a bit of a headache down the line. And watch out for that beer, it's definitely coming your way if our paths cross! Thanks for the luck and helpful advice, I hope this '23 Tarraco gets back to purring like a kitten soon. Cheers, and take care!
