Seeking Advice on Overheating Issue in 2010 Peugeot 407 Diesel Engine

Overheating

Hey! I've got a 2010 Peugeot 407, Diesel engine, that's done around 125,841 kilometers, and it's been overheating recently. Now, I ain't no mechanic, but I've got a hunch it could be something off with the cooling air flap system? Anyone else had this issue and what did your local mechanic do about it? Looking for some advice after a not-so-great last visit to the car shop. Cheers!

Hey, sounds spot-on like what I experienced with my 2013 Peugeot 508 a while back. Same overheating issue; mechanic deduced a defective radiator shutter wiring harness sending wrong signal to the cooling air flap system, tucked away behind the bumper. The problem was quite serious because, without a fix, it risks damaging the engine from excessive temperatures. Basically had to replace that worn-out wiring harness, no other way around it. Got the flap working effectively again, and no more issues since then. If I were you, I'd definitely have it checked by a trusty mechanic. Safe driving!

Wow, this sounds exactly like what's happening with my Peugeot 407. Seems like I'll have to hunt down a trustworthy mechanic to replace that darn wiring harness. Just out of curiosity do you recall how much the replacement set you back? And have you encountered any similar problems or anything else since then? Thanks again for your help, really appreciate it!

Hey again! Ah, yes, I recall now - it cost me around 270.00 € to sort out that pesky Radiator shutter wiring harness behind the bumper. It was definitely an investment to keep the old beast running smooth, though! After that was fixed, the malfunction in the cooling air flap system was sorted too. And thankfully, I haven't faced any of those annoying overheating issues since that repair, touch wood. So, on my end, it's been smooth sailing (or rather, driving) since then! Hope you get it sorted with your Peugeot 407 without any further hassles. Drive safe!

Cheers for that! €270.0 seems like a small price to pay to keep the old girl from overheating. I'll definitely be getting that blasted wiring harness looked at - from the sounds of it, that's likely what's causing my Peugeot grief. If it's been smooth driving for you since yours was fixed, hopefully it will be the same situation for me once mine is repaired. Thanks again for the help. Stay safe on the roads!
