Hey! Thanks for your timely advice. Can't deny, I'd been suspecting the Crankshaft sensor too... Nice to have that suspicion echoed by someone who's been through the same rodeo. Regarding mileage, my Mohave has got roughly 179,650km on it. As for the last service, that was quite recently, at about 179,000km—regular maintenance, nothing major done. What do you reckon? Does this info shed any light on the issue at hand? P.S. I'll definitely be checking with my mechanic, don't worry! Just thought gathering some firsthand experiences could set me on the right track. Cheers!

Hey again, Ah, good to know that I'm not the only one suspecting the Crankshaft sensor. With that kind of mileage on your Mohave, it's totally a possibility, considering my problem happened around the 170,000km mark. And since you haven't faced any major issues recently, I'm leaning more towards this guess. But remember, dodgy sensors can cause all sorts of problems - your unsteady engine and drop in power, even the car not starting. Metal shavings in your oil though, that's a bit worrying. It might be a sign that some components are wearing down quickly inside your engine. Better get that checked separately as it may not be related to the Crankshaft position sensor. As I and you're intending, do check with your mechanic. He's the expert and will know best. But in the meantime, drive safe and fingers crossed it's not anything too severe. Keep us posted!

Good day, Appreciate the thorough response and the heads-up about the metal shavings! I was a bit clueless on that bit, honestly. So yes, I'll make that a priority alongside the sensor. And as you suggested, it makes sense to get it all checked out by my mechanic. Fingers crossed, it isn't anything too serious. Drive safe too, and thanks again for sharing your thoughts and experience. I'll keep you guys updated once I have a definite response from my mechanic. Cheers!

I have a Kia Sorento automatic petrol. It's stuck in 4th gear throughout the journey in Drive mode. And I can't find a solution.

Start by checking the transmission fluid level and condition. Low or dirty transmission fluid can cause shifting issues. If the fluid level is fine, it might be a problem with the transmission control module or a sensor. It's important to address this promptly, as driving in a single gear can strain the transmission. Let me know how it goes or if you have any further questions!

Hey there, I feel your pain, dude. I had a similar issue with my Kia Sorento (2013 model) recently so, I can kind of relate. Just so you know, my car knowledge is pretty decent (I'd say, "some experience"). To me, your problem sounds like what I went through – faulty Crankshaft sensor. It cost me around 250 Euro to get it replaced at my local workshop. They a decent job and the car runs smoothly now. But hey, each car is its own beast. I would suggest you to confirm my experience with your mechanic. You should consider the car's mileage, maintenance history, and other specifics before making a call. Can you provide those details? It would help in deducing a more tailored solution. Anyway, hope this helps!
