Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting DPF Regen Issue and Check Engine Light in 2018 Kia Stonic
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Kia Stonic owner is experiencing issues with the check engine light and DPF regeneration, suspecting low Ad-Blue system pressure as the cause. Another individual with a similar experience suggests that the problem might indeed be related to the Ad-Blue system. The recommended solution involves a manual DPF regeneration, diagnostic testing, unclogging, flushing, and refilling the Ad-Blue system, followed by resetting the warning lights. The owner plans to visit a local workshop to address the issue based on these suggestions.

Appreciate your response! My Kia's got about 65505 KM on the clock. My last service was fairly recent, all regular stuff checked, but that misbehaving Ad-Blue system wasn't part of it sadly. Just my luck, eh? And yeah totally agree, as long as my Stonic gets back on track, the cost doesn't sting too much. Afterall it's not just a car, it's my daily partner in crime. Let's sort this out together!

Hey! Sounds like your Sorento's throwing a tantrum like my Sportage did. By the sounds of it and considering your recent service, I reckon it's almost certainly the same Ad-Blue affair. I tell ya, it's pesky when these systems give us a run for our money! So, let me walk you through what my workshop did: First, they did a manual regeneration of the DPF. Then, they ran a diagnostic test and heck, there it was - the stupid Ad-Blue system error! They unclogged and flushed the system, topped it back up and reset the warning lights. Cost me a bit, but hey, couldn't have my ride down in dumps now, could I? Anyhow, hand it over to your local mechanic and get them to inspect the Ad-blue system. They surely should be able to sort it out. Keep us posted on how it goes. Always here to back you up! Good luck with her!

Thanks a lot for your insights and the step-by-step you got! Honestly, it’s such a relief to have this sorta support while wrestling with car issues. I reckon you’ve saved me a right muddle. I’ll be trotting down to my local workshop in the morning and have them give the Ad-Blue system a good look-over based on your suggestions. Can’t wait to get my Stonic back to her best! I’ll keep you in the loop, for sure. Cheers for your help once again - hugely appreciated!

Hey there! The same bug gave me headaches with my 2017 Kia Stonic, diesel too. Just some dabbling car experience for me, but I've tinkered around enough to get a feel for things. Turned out my Ad-Blue tank was off-track. Quite the bummer, to be honest. My trusted local workshop helped out and it cost me around 1620 Euro to sort out the full thing. Slightly steep, but no regrets as it got my beast back to her roaring glory. Can you share more info like the mileage, last service time, and maintenance history? It'd really help to pin down your issue. Don't worry, we'll get that Stonic of yours back to cruising smoothly!
