Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Electrical Issues in 2015 Lexus RC

Hey! Been having some pesky issues with my 2015 Lexus RC with a gas engine. Lately, I've noticed a general electrical glitch, stored faults, dimming or flickering lights, and a sluggish battery on startup. I suspect these issues might be linked to an interruption at terminal 30. Anyone on here had similar troubles, and if so, how did your mechanic pin down the problem and fix it? Would love some firsthand experiences or any helpful pointers to troubleshoot this! Thanks in advance.

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around troubleshooting electrical issues in a 2015 Lexus RC, characterized by stored faults, dimming or flickering lights, and a sluggish battery on startup. The initial suspicion is an interruption at terminal 30, but a similar experience shared suggests a defective battery could be the cause. Potential causes include moisture intrusion or low battery voltage, with advice to inspect for corrosion or consider issues like a faulty alternator or loose wiring. The recommended solution is to have a mechanic diagnose the problem to confirm the exact cause and fix it.

Hey there! Funnily enough, I had a similar problem with my 2013 Lexus IS, slightly older but near identical in build! Just a bit of context, I ain't a pro, but I do have some experience poking around inside a bonnet. So, when my baby started showing the same kind of symptoms, I was on high alert. I trotted her down to my trusted local workshop and got the guys to take a look-see. Turned out, the battery was defective and on its last legs - a discharged battery! Had no choice but to cough up 290 Euro to get it fixed, but she's been prime as a whistle since. So, my guess would be your RC could be dealing with a similar situation. Could you give more deets about your RC? Like mileage, last service, routine checks and changes, etc? That info could paint a clearer picture for any of us trying to help ya out here. Cheers!

What's up! I appreciate your reply and insights. Really helps to have other car lovers lending a hand. To provide some information on my RC's upkeep, I've run her a good 89776 KMs so far. Haven't faced any major issues until this, so I have to say I'm a tad surprised. She was last serviced 3 months back, and it's been regular oil changes, filter replacements, and checks since. Based on your experience, I'm also leaning towards a faulty battery now. Although, could moisture intrusion or low battery voltage be causing this? I'll look into getting it inspected this week. Your response was really helpful! Cheers!

Hey again! Glad to hear my two cents has been some help. Given the mileage and regular maintenance, your Lexus RC sounds pretty well looked-after. With the symptoms you've been experiencing, a defective battery does seem like the most likely culprit. And as you asked, yeah, moisture intrusion could potentially cause these electrical issues too, but you'd usually see some corrosion around the battery terminals or wiring if that were the case. As far as low battery voltage causing the problems, well, that's kind of a chicken-and-egg scenario. It might be that the low voltage is indeed the root cause. Or alternatively, something else like a dodgy alternator or loose wiring could be causing your battery to undercharge and read as low voltage. In any case, a trip to your mechanic is always a good shout. Let them do their thing and diagnose the problem directly. And keep us posted, I'm keen to hear what turns out! Drive safe and good luck with the fix!

Hey there again! Thanks heaps for the detailed explanation. Things make a bit more sense now. I'm certainly going to try and get my beauty to the workshop under the tutelage of my trusted mechanic as soon as possible. Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious! As for keeping you posted, absolutely. I'd have to see what the experts have to say about the glitches. It's comforting to know that help is just a message away in communities like this. Will definitely update once I have more to tell after the check-up. Until then, safe and fun roads to you too!
