Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Lighting Errors and Warning Light on '03 Kia Sportage

Warning light in the speedometer of the vehicle

Error in the lighting

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I'm dealing with a bit of a situation with my '03 Kia Sportage, gasoline engine. It has started showing some weird stuff, like lighting errors and a warning light on my speedometer. I reckon this could be a faulty bulb but would appreciate some feedback. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on troubleshooting this or dealing with the repair shop? Thanks for your insights!

Hey! Had a similar issue with my '01 Kia Sorento, so might have some hints for you. I'd say I have some car experience, not a pro or anything, but I've learned a few things over the years. The warning light on my ride turned out to be due to a defective cable connection to the lamp. Dropped it at my local garage, told 'em about the issue, and they sorted it for me. Cost me around 180 Euro - not too bad. Can you tell me a bit more about your Sportage, like mileage and how often you get it serviced? It'd help narrow things down. Also, got any pics? The more info, the better we can help you out. Cheers!

Hey there, Thanks for sharing your experience! My Sportage clocks in at 105820 KM. The last scheduled service happened a few months back. Don't have any pictures at the moment, but will try and get a few uploaded when I get a sec. Cheers for your help!

Alright Thanks for getting back! It's a good sign that your Sportage has been serviced recently, but stuff happens, you know. Sometimes it's just a little issue causing the big drama. Given the information, I'd still lean towards a faulty wiring or a faulty lamp issue. Since you've recently serviced, I assume they would've checked the bulb. So, my best guess is that either the cable connection to the lamp wasn't quite snug or there might be a short in the wire. I've faced a similar issue and it was just a bad cable. Of course, I could be wrong and it could be something else entirely. I suggest you get your Kia's lighting system checked in a garage that knows their stuff. Make sure you tell them about the issue, they will do a proper diagnosis. Don’t forget to update us here once you've figured out the problem. Take care and best of luck!

Hey again, Thanks a ton for your valuable advice. You've given me a pretty clear insight into what I've got to do. I'll take it to the garage and share the whole situation as you said. Certainly looks a wiring problem now that you explain it. I'll update this thread once I've got it figured out. Cheers for your help!
