Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Renault Arkana Hybrid 2021 - Suspected Crankshaft to Camshaft Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2021 Renault Arkana hybrid is experiencing issues such as the check engine light being on, random engine shutdowns, power loss, instability, starting problems, strange engine noises, and metal fragments in the oil. These symptoms suggest a potential problem with the crankshaft to camshaft position, possibly due to a defective crankshaft sensor. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle professionally diagnosed and repaired, as ignoring the issue could lead to more severe engine damage.

Hey there, I appreciate the response! My Arkana's just hit 139357 km on the clock. As for the recent service, it hasn't been serviced for a little while honestly, but I did get the tyres and brakes checked a few months ago. This issue showed up well after that. Looks like it might be time to take it in for a check like you did with your Clio then...

Hey again, given your mileage and the symptoms you've listed, it does sound a lot like a problem with the Crankshaft sensor. That's similar to the situation I dealt with my Clio. Like I said, the symptomatic behaviors were almost identical. Tyre and brake checks wouldn't really have an impact on the engine health, so I reckon it's definitely overdue for a proper look by the professionals. They'd have it hooked to their diagnostic machine, and if it's indeed the crankshaft sensor, it should show up in their scan. 250 Euro sounds hefty, but if it's what it takes to get your Arkana running smoothly again, I'd say it's an investment. Honestly, don't delay as these problems if unchecked can add up and may lead to more serious and costly engine damage over time, especially with the metal shavings in the oil. Hope you get your motor sorted soon, keep us updated!

Yo, thanks for taking the time to write this out, it helped a lot. I think you're absolutely right, gotta get the old girl in for a professional look. The information you shared really does make it seem like it could be the Crankshaft sensor acting up. Time to stop putting it off and make that 250 Euro investment. I'll definitely keep all of you posted on how it goes. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.

Hey, sounds quite similar to an issue I had with my 2017 Renault Clio. My car expertise level is pretty decent, I'd say some experience since I enjoy tinkering with vehicles. In my case, it turned out the Crankshaft sensor was defective, similar to what you're suspecting. Now how did I deal with it? I took it to my local garage and those guys did an excellent job at identifying the exact issue. They used their diagnostic tools to confirm my suspicion and carried out the necessary work right after, it set me back 250 Euro to have it all sorted. But before I can dive into more details, could you let me know your mileage and if any recent repair work was done before this problem started? This can help more accurately figure out if we're on the right track.
