Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Startup and Lighting Issues in 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid

Weak battery when starting the engine

Dim or flickering lights

Engine hard to start

Hey fellow car buffs, I'm dealing with an issue with my 2021 Renault Arkana Hybrid. Lately, it's had trouble starting up, the battery seems feeble at start-up, and lights have been going dim or flickering. I'm guessing it might be something off with the engine control. Have any of you ever faced a similar problem? How did you or your mechanic pinpoint and resolve it? Thanks heaps for any advice or insights you can share!

Hey, Just recently I had a similar issue with my 2017 Renault Kadjar. I ain't no pro mechanic (got low experience in this), but when the boot wouldn't open and the headlights started dimming, I suspected it was the battery. Took it to my local workshop and they confirmed it - battery voltage was too low. Got it sorted there and it cost me €290. Chances are, your issue might be similar, and changing or recharging the battery should help. Just in case, could you please share if any error lights are on your dash? It might help me give you a bit more tailored advice. Cheers!

Hello, appreciate your input! No dashboard warning lights so far, just the dimming and flickering to throw me off, it's weird. I've got about 31438 km on the clock and I'm due for a service soon, so I reckon I might get the battery checked while I'm at it. Anyway, thanks a ton - didn't want to turn up at the garage without a clue. Take it easy.

Hey, That's a sound plan, nothing wrong with being informed before you show up at the garage! No warning lights does suggest your problem is likely isolated to the battery or the charging system. Don't want to throw you a curveball, but there's every chance the alternator (the bit that charges your battery while the engine's running) could be on the fritz too. Or it could just be a loose or corroded wire somewhere. Given your car's age, it's a bit early for a battery change, but it depends on how much you've used and abused it, ha! Either way, getting the battery, alternator, and all relevant cabling checked will do your car good. Also, you might want to consider taking your car to a Renault authorized service center, given it's a hybrid and these lads might have specific tools/training to deal with it. Best of luck. Don't let this dim your love for the ride! Cheers!

Good day, Listening to you, I reckon my battery or alternator's probably the culprits, but I'll make a note to get the wires checked out too just to be sure. And you hit the nail on the head. I've pretty much been living in my car this past year, so wouldn't surprise me if the battery's been overworked a bit, haha. I'll definitely look into using an authorized Renault service center, they should know their stuff, right? Thanks for all your help, friend. And don't worry, ain't nothing gonna dim my love for my car! Take care and stay safe on the roads. Cheers!
