Seeking Advice on Troubleshooting Warm Air AC Issue in 2009 Nissan Cima
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
The 2009 Nissan Cima is experiencing an issue where the AC is blowing warm air, suspected to be caused by faulty signals from the ambient temperature sensor. A similar problem in a 2007 Nissan Skyline was resolved by addressing defective cables or plug connections from the sensor. Suggested solutions include inspecting and possibly replacing these cables and checking refrigerant levels. The owner plans to consult a mechanic to address these potential issues.

Hey! Appreciate the input. The Cima is gasoline, and she's got 71472 km on her. Recently got a service too, so there hasn't really been any other alarming issues. I'll try to have a peek under the hood and see if I can figure out anything about that sensor or the connection. A bit of a novice myself, so fingers crossed! Cheers for the hint about the defective cable – wouldn't have thought of that.

No worries! With that bit more info, it definitely could be a similar issue to what I had with my Skyline. Give those cables that connect to the ambient temperature sensor a good look. If they seem broken, burnt, or simply not connected properly, that might be your culprit, just like it was in my case. Get a pro to replace it if you're not confident doing it yourself. I paid around 95 Euro, but I guess the cost might vary depending on your location and the workshop. Oh, and by the way, don't forget to ask them to check the refrigerant levels as well, low refrigerant can also cause the AC to blow warm. Keep us posted on how it turns out! Cheers and good luck!

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I had a look at those cables, and sure enough, they seemed a bit dodgy. Not confident enough to mess around with them myself, so I've booked in with my regular mechanic, mentioned all those points you said. Might keep an eye on those refrigerant levels too - good shout. Fingers crossed we get the old gal back to her cooler self! Will let you know how it all pans out. Cheers for the hand, muchly appreciated!

Hey, had a similar gremlin with my 2007 Nissan Skyline. Just a hobbyist when it comes to car stuff, so not a pro but got some experience under the hood. Ended up being a defective cable or plug connection from the sensor giving wrong signals. My workshop was pretty decent about it, charged me 95 Euro to get it sorted. Bit more info needed to help you out further, though. Petrol or diesel engine? Mileage? Any other symptoms? Peak under the hood and see if you can spot anything obvious.
