Vibrations from the engine

Hey there, Thanks for chipping in with your experience - really appreciate it. Your situation sounds quite similar to mine. So I guess my gut feeling about the vacuum-controlled engine mount wasn't totally off the mark. It's a relief to hear it didn't turn into a major issue for you. If you don't mind me asking, do you recall roughly how much the fix set you back? And since the repair, have you had any other related problems or anything else pop up? Cheers!

Hey again, Yeah, it seems like we have quite similar stories with our Volvos! As for the cost, fixing the cable/connector of the engine mount set me back around €165. Not too shabby compared to some other potential repairs, let me tell you! After the fix, I gotta say, the car's been running a lot smoother with no more menacing vibrations. Since seeing the mechanic and getting the whole engine mount sorted out, I've not experienced any related hitches. It's almost like giving the old car a new lease on life. So, fingers crossed it remains the same. Hope that eases some of your worries! Take care!

Hey, Your answer really does put my mind at ease. And the cost too, doesn't sound too steep compared to the peace of mind I'd get, knowing the wobble is gone. Sounds like getting this sorted sooner rather than later is the right call. Also, the reassurance that there haven't been any further complications post the engine mount fix is a bonus. Looks like it's time to face the music and find a decent garage. Gotta get the good old Volvo purring like a kitten again. Thanks again for your help. You've been a real lifesaver! Cheers!

Hey, I've got an '04 V50, quite similar to your S40. I had exactly the same vibes coming from the engine a couple of years back. Thought it was dodgy fuel at first, but after a while, it was clearly more than that. Turns out it was indeed the vacuum-controlled engine mount. The issue was with the cable, specifically the connector was worn out. It wasn't a major issue per se, but left unattended, it could've turned nasty real quick. To be fair, my mechanic was pretty up-to-the-minute with the diagnosis and the whole fix. It wasn't too invasive and got the job done pretty swiftly, in about a day or two. He explained that these mounts are a common issue in our models, so most mechanics worth their salt should have an idea of what to expect. Could also be a good chance to check other engine connectors while you're at it. Hope this gives you a bit of a steer! Cheers!
