(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2006 BMW 3 Series is experiencing overheating and warm air from the air conditioning, suspected to be due to a faulty electric fan or its control unit. A similar issue was resolved in a BMW 5 Series by replacing the electric fan control unit, which restored proper air conditioning function and resolved overheating. It is suggested to have the control unit checked and replaced if necessary, as this could likely solve the problem.

Hey, thanks for your quick reply. That sounds like an expensive repair, but if it solves the problem, then it's certainly worth it. Well, my BMW already has quite a few kilometers on it, 148732 km to be exact, but apart from that it's actually in good condition. Nothing special was found at the last inspection. There are also no other problems that I have noticed, apart from the air conditioning and overheating. Many greetings back!

Hey, glad my answer was helpful! Well, with the number of kilometers, it might be time to replace some parts. I also had to replace the electric fan control unit on my BMW, although my car had less kilometers than yours. As you are not experiencing any other symptoms, it is highly likely that the problem can be solved in exactly the same way as mine. It's best to have the control unit checked and replaced if necessary, then everything should run smoothly again. It's a bit expensive, but still cheaper than buying a new car. Hope this helps you. Please keep us up to date on how things develop. Greetings!

Hello, thank you for another helpful reply! Yes, you're certainly right, given the mileage, problems can occur here and there. Your advice definitely sounds sensible and I'll ask the garage if they can check the "control unit" and replace it if it's faulty. And you're certainly right, a repair is probably still cheaper than buying a new car. I will definitely let you know what happens next. Thanks again for your help! Best regards!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my BMW 5 Series (2004 model, also petrol) some time ago. I would say I have a bit of experience with cars, but I am not a professional or a mechanic. The electric fan control unit was replaced in my garage because it was defective. The whole thing cost 480 euros. The air conditioning then worked perfectly again and the problem with overheating was also solved. To be able to give you more details, it would be helpful if you could tell us more about your car. What is the general condition? Are there any other problems you've noticed? Hope this helps you a little! Regards.
