Seeking Advice: Nissan Quest 2017 Locking System and Lighting Issues

Hey fellow car enthusiasts, I've got a 2017 Nissan Quest, gas engine, with about 136322 KM on her. Recently, I'm having some trouble with the locking system - it just refuses to lock or unlock. Additionally, the lights are playing up, dimming and flickering on their own. I guess the issues might be from faulty outside door handle electronics, not entirely sure though. Do any of you have similar experiences with these kind of problems? How did your mechanic handle this? Seriously hoping for better experience this time as my last trip to the shop was quite unpleasant. Any advice would help! Thanks in advance!

Hey there, I relate to your situation having a 2014 Nissan Murano, faced something similar not too long ago. I thought it was a simple matter and kept neglecting it initially. But turns out, the issue was actually my cable connection to the outside door handle electronics being defective. It was messing with the control unit causing similar problems. Your symptoms sound remarkably alike. If this is the case, indeed, it may seem like just an annoying issue, but it's sort of serious because it governs your locking system. If left untreated, it could risk security of your vehicle. When I took mine to the garage, the mechanic properly examined the vehicle to pinpoint the issue. They had to detach the door panel to reach the wiring and realign things properly. A bit complex operation if you're not into cars. So it would be best to get a professional check out your vehicle. Hang in there, I hope you get this sorted out soon!

Hey, That's some pretty insightful stuff you've shared. Your situation sounds pretty similar to mine. With your Nissan Murano, after the mechanic worked on the door panel wiring did your issue completely sort out? And if you don't mind me asking, how much did this set you back? Just trying to get a gauge on it. Also, have you encountered any other issues since the fix? Just want to be prepared for any potential surprises down the road. Cheers!

Hello again, Glad you found my input insightful. After the mechanic had a go at the wiring in the door panel, things have been running smooth as silk. Haven't had a single problem with the door locks or the funky lights since then. The error with the outside door handle electronics was fixed thoroughly, so we are all good on that front. As for the cost, the bill for mending the cable connection that was faulty between the outside door handle electronics and the control module came to 110€. Yep, that's right, didn't break the bank but wasn't exactly pocket change either. But I guess it was a price worth paying for the peace of mind. Since then, no new surprises have come up to catch me off guard yet. Fingers crossed, let's hope it stays that way for a long haul. So yeah, it pays to nip these things in the bud and keep the car in tip-top shape. Best of luck with getting yours sorted! Cheers!

Hey, Thanks a ton for shedding light on your experience. Definitely gives me a clear direction on how to approach this pesky glitch. The cost, while not ideal, isn't as exorbitant as I had feared. Additionally, hearing about the lack of post-fix issues indeed comes as a relief. You've been extremely helpful, I owe you one. I'd better get myself booked with the mechanic and have this handled professionally. Hoping my car starts behaving after this and doesn't throw any curveballs. Good day to you! And let's hope for the long haul indeed. Thanks again. Cheerio!
