Hey! Your experience with your Qashqai Diesel sounds eerily like what I'm coping with my Nissan Sylphy right now! So the nightmare was your diesel particulate filter getting clogged up? Jeepers, that's rotten. I'm curious though, do you have a ballpark figure on what it cost you to pull through all of this and have the issue squared away? And, have you had any similar trouble since then or was that one uncomfortable problem? Appreciate all insights.

Hey! Yeah, you hit the nail on the head! It was indeed the bloody DPF messing around due to some major clogging because of high kms I had clocked. Now, to answer your question - it didn't exactly come cheap. The cleanup of the Diesel particulate filter and fixing it up set me back by about 1550 quid. On a bright note, since the repair job, she's been running smoother than ever! No traces of the earlier issues. All it needed was a mechanic who knew his stuff with diesels and a bit of a dent in my wallet. Hope this helps. Good luck with getting your Sylphy sorted out!

Hey there! Thanks for the info, that was pretty insightful indeed. Looks like I'm in for a bit of a dent in my wallet as well, just hoping to find a trustworthy mechanic this time. If your Qashqai has been running smoothly after the DPF cleanup, I've got some hope for my Sylphy as well. Cheers for the advice, really appreciate it! It's time for me to start doing some research and get this sorted out. Fingers crossed it doesn't turn out to be more than just the DPF issue.

Hey there! Your issue sounds oddly familiar to what I experienced with my 2016 Nissan Qashqai Diesel a while back. Same symptoms – black exhaust smoke, power loss, and that unmistakable stench! The Culprit? You guessed it, my diesel particulate filter was choked full due to high mileage on it. Turns out, the DPF regeneration wasn't working properly and the filter got all jammed up. This is quite a common issue. Not a simple oil-change sort of problem but not catastrophic either. Look, you can't ignore it, but don't be too distressed - just make sure to get reliable mechanicians on it. They had to manually force a regeneration, followed by a good cleaning of the filter. It's a specialized job though - you need someone who really knows their diesel stuff to heal your ride. Hope this gets sorted for you soon. Hang in there!
