Hey guys, I have a strange problem with my 2014 Toyota Corolla gasoline engine. The thing is that the check engine light is activated, the engine shuts itself off, there is loss of power, the engine runs rough and the car won't start at all. There is also a warning light on in the speedometer and a fault is stored. I suspect that it has something to do with the engine control unit. Have any of you ever experienced something like this? I'd be very interested to hear how you got this solved in the workshop and what your experiences were. I would be grateful for any tips!

Hi, I had a similar problem with my 2012 Toyota Corolla Verso, I'm not a car mechanic but have a bit of experience with cars. After my check engine light suddenly came on and similar to yours, my car wouldn't start, I went to my trusted garage. They diagnosed sporadic faulty communication between ECUs. I spent about 955.0 euros to fix it. But to help you more accurately, I need more details about your car. For example, have you recently done any work on the car or replaced any parts? Hey thanks for your quick reply and help! So no, I haven't done any work on the car recently and haven't replaced any parts. I last serviced it at 264784 KM km, but everything was still fine then. Never had such problems until now, it's really driving me crazy... maybe I really should contact my garage. I didn't think it would be so expensive... 955 euros is a lot of money. Moin, no problem, always happy to help! Yes, problems like that can be really annoying, I can totally understand you. I didn't do any work on my Toyota Corolla Verso back then or replace any parts. Sometimes it just happens suddenly and there's nothing you can do about it. To be on the safe side, could you perhaps read out the fault memory or have it read out? Perhaps there is a specific error code that points to the problem. That helped me a lot back then. At the garage, they should actually be able to tell you exactly what's wrong and then you can decide whether you want to have the repair done or whether there's a cheaper solution. Yes, the costs can be really high... But safety first, that's the most important thing. Don't be discouraged, in the end it's just a car and there's always a solution! All the best!
