Hey! Oh man, your experience is one heck of a déjà vu! Can totally relate to that permanent "Check Engine" show - it's like its own little disco on my dash now. It's sounding more and more like an issue in the fuel system, though I gotta admit, I didn't consider the high-pressure pump being a potential culprit. Sounds like quite a risky business ignoring it, so I'm definitely off to the mechanic. You reckon you can remember how much they stung you for the pump replacement? Hey champ! Oh, I tell you, the disco show from that "Check Engine" light can be quite the experience, right? But hey, this one's a concerning dance we'd rather not have! About the high-pressure pump thing, yeah it had me wholly surprised too! As for the wallet damage, t'was a pricey fix, something to the tune of €1510.0. I know, it's quite the amount, but trust me, your peace of mind and your car's overall health will thank you! Ever since that visit, my Fiat's been behaving like a dream, no more surprise solos from the "Check Engine" band! And to answer your second question, yes sir, something did pop up. After the pump was sorted, the mechanic sussed out the fuel volume regulator fault too. Probably the reason why it was drinking up the juice like there was no tomorrow. Hey! Your words resonate a lot champ! That mad "Check Engine" light rave sure seems to be ending soon, thanks to your advice. I totally didn't see the high-pressure pump as the surprise party crasher! Wowza, €1510 is a pretty penny, but then it's about keeping the old car's health in check and the peace of mind that comes with it. Really, that's priceless. Aha! So the fuel volume regulator also threw an impromptu gig, can't be having that now, can we? High time both these gigs got called off. Hey there! your symptoms sound eerily similar to what I experienced with my 2015 Fiat Bravo. Was all kinds of frustrating! Noticed an unusual exhaust smell, rough revving and my engine also stalled at the most inconvenient times. The "Check Engine" light had practically become a permanent fixture on the dashboard! Threw in some good ol' research, version of what you're doing now, and my hunch was that it was something to do with the fuel system. So, pulled up my socks and took it to the garage. Now, turned out, the cause wasn't a faulty fuel volume regulator but a defective high-pressure pump. The mechanic told me, with the pump not working properly, my car was getting too much fuel and not enough air which was causing all these issues. It was quite a serious problem according to the guy at the garage and he mentioned it could potentially damage the engine in the long run. So fixing it was essential. After the mechanic replaced the pump, I haven't had any of those problems since. The car runs smoothly, no more engine light, no stalling. Pretty much, back to its old self. Hope this helps you out!
