Seeking Solutions for Engine Instability and Acceleration Issues in 2013 Lexus GS

Hey everyone, got a bit of a head-scratcher with my 2013 Lexus GS running on gas. Lately, she's been acting weird with stuff like the check engine light popping on, losing power, engine instability, jerking on acceleration, and shaking and stalling while idling. My hunch is it's got something to do with the tank ventilation system or the DMTL valve. Anyone else experienced this and got it sorted? Would love to hear your troubleshooting stories and how your workshop managed to fix it. Cheers!

Hi there! I had a similar issue with my 2011 Lexus ES a while back - a bit freaky indeed! I'm not exactly a car guru but I do have some basic experience under the hood. I took my car to my local workshop, and they were fantastic. Turns out, my vent lines from the tank to the valve were defective. Cost me about 205€ to get it fixed, but it was worth every penny. Could you provide more details about your GS? How regularly has it been serviced? More info may help me or others here to provide you with more pertinent advice. Catch ya on the flip side!

Thanks for the heads up! My GS has seen better days, but I've tried to keep her in check with regular services. The most recent service was done at the 179593 KM mark. It's been an uphill battle since then with these issues cropping up. If it's the vent lines like in your case, the cost doesn't sound too heavy. Hoping for the best, fingers crossed.-

Hey again, Sounds to me like you're doing everything right by keeping up with regular maintenance. That's key with cars, especially as they rack up the miles like yours. My situation did sound similar based on your description, but without personally seeing or hearing your GS run, I'd still recommend having it checked out by a professional. My trusty mechanic initially thought it could be a number of issues - from fuel pump to spark plugs to coils. The vent line problem was detected after some thorough diagnostics. So, even though our symptoms seem similar, it doesn't necessarily mean your issue lies with the ventilation system or the DMTL valve. For peace of mind, I'd say get it checked integrally to ensure you capture whatever is causing the erratic behavior. Let us know how it fares!

Cheers appreciate the advice. Yeah, totally get that it's best to have a pro give her the once over. There's only so much Google and forums can tell me, ay! Mechanic booked for this Thursday so we'll see what the diagnosis is. Wish me luck, fellas, and will keep you posted once I've got an answer. Thanks again for the help!
