Seeking Suggestions for Solving 2011 Kia Soul's Uneven Ride Height and Excessive Bounce

Uneven Ride Height

Excessive Bouncing

Hey everyone, I've got a 2011 Kia Soul with a Gas engine acting up in some weird ways. It's showing uneven ride height and bounces more than a kangaroo on a pogo stick. My first guess was something jamming up the height control, but I could really use your advice to nail down the problem. If you've had this issue before, I'd love to know what exactly got it sorted at your workshop. Any tips or shared experiences would be much appreciated!

Hey! Had a similar issue with my 2009 Kia Sportage just last year. Now, I don't claim to be a mechanical maven, more like a curious car enthusiast at best. Anyway, long story short, ended up shelling out 155 Euro at the workshop due to a dodgy cable connection on a sensor. Turned out, the little bugger was defective, an unexpected factor messing around with the ride height. Might be the same issue for your Soul. However, without some extra info it's tough to say if that's your exact problem. Could you give more details about the problem? Think recent changes, odd noises, other symptoms, that kinda stuff. That'll help everyone jump in with more specific advice for ya. Cheers!

Hey there, thanks for hitting back! Oddly, in terms of recent changes, not much. It's a well-pampered beast with just about 39190 KM on it. No new additions or alterations from my end. One thing I did notice was a mild clunking noise when the car started bouncing more than usual. It's like someone tapping on a steel drum, soft but noticeable. Might this ring any bells? Cheers!

Hey back at ya! That soft clunking sound you mentioned could be a vital clue. In fact, based on my own Kia's experience, this could suggest either worn-out struts or a problem with the shock absorbers. Both can cause the excessive bouncing you're experiencing. Rest assured, you're not looking at a severe mechanical disaster, but it's definitely something you'd want to get checked out pronto, preferably by an expert in a reputable garage. My guess is you'll probably need new shocks or struts. Remember though, I'm just sharing from what happened to me, and i'm no certified mechanic. Hope this info nudges you in the right direction for your next troubleshooting step. Best of luck with the ol' Soul! ;)

Cheers! Sounds like struts or the shock absorbers could indeed be the real culprits. I appreciate your insights and the effort to share your similar experience. It does give me a bit more direction on where my next step should be. Off to a reputable garage it is, then - don’t want the Soul bouncing it’s way to the moon! Thanks a bunch - you've been a massive help. Fingers crossed, the ol' Soul will get back on track nice and easy! ;)
