Seicento fuel level sensor fault

I own a 2001 Fiat Seicento with a gasoline engine. The check engine light illuminates, and the engine stalls at idle. Error memory stores a fault. With 171377 km mileage, could a defective fuse be the cause of this fuel level sensor fault?

Summary of the thread

A 2001 Fiat Seicento owner experienced a check engine light and engine stalling at idle, with a fault related to the fuel level sensor. The issue was confirmed by erratic fuel gauge readings. The problem was resolved by replacing the faulty fuel level sensor at a workshop.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Fuel level sensor issues, huh? Sounds familiar. I've got a Seicento as well, and had similar symptoms a while back. Check engine light on, rough idling... Could you tell me if the fuel gauge is also acting weird? Is it showing erratic readings, or is it stuck?

Thank you for your response. The fuel gauge does appear to be showing incorrect values. Could you please tell me if you were able to fix this by yourself?

Yeah, the dodgy readings confirm it. Nah, I didn't manage to sort it myself; car electronics are like black magic to me. In the end I had to bite the bullet and take it to a workshop. They replaced the sensor in no time.

I appreciate the information. I had the fuel level sensor replaced at a workshop; the repair cost 52€. The fault has now been resolved.
