Seicento high voltage system error

I'm having a 'High-voltage system error' message on my 2000 Fiat Seicento electric, with sudden engine shutdowns and power loss. Anyone else seen this? The error is also stored. At 225338 km, could this be the end?

Summary of the thread

A 2000 Fiat Seicento electric is experiencing a 'High-voltage system error' message, leading to sudden engine shutdowns and power loss. This issue may be caused by an old or defective battery, as a similar problem was resolved by replacing a heavily discharged battery. It is recommended to have the battery professionally checked and replaced if necessary to resolve the error and restore vehicle performance.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I had something similar in my Seicento! Same error message and awful power loss. Did you check your battery? How old is it? That was the problem for me.

Interesting! The battery is quite old. I haven't tested it, though. Would the battery really cause the engine to shut down completely and the high voltage error?

Yep, absolutely. The system gets confused when the battery voltage is off. Get it checked professionally. I took mine to a workshop, and they confirmed it was heavily discharged and defective. The repair cost 290€.

Thanks for the insight! A battery check is definitely in order. Your experience has been invaluable. I'll take it to a workshop. It cost me 290€, just as you said, but now it is fixed.
