Pre-ignition and detonation were considered, although not definitively ruled out. Could you elaborate on the specifics of the Saab's issue and the resolution? It may provide a valuable point of comparison.

Sure thing. Turned out I couldn't sort it myself, so I just took it to a workshop. They confirmed that the root cause was similar to what you're expecting. I'd recommend doing the same, as messing with cylinder heads isn't something I'd recommend to a beginner.

Understood. The vehicle was taken to a workshop, which confirmed deposits in the combustion chamber. After cleaning, the issue was resolved. The repair cost was 425€.

Sounds rough. I had similar symptoms on my old Saab, though it was a different kettle of fish entirely. Did you check for pre-ignition or detonation? Is there any chance your cylinder heads need some tuning?
