Summary of the thread
A 2006 Nissan Sentra is experiencing a check engine light, reduced power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption, with diagnostics indicating a crankshaft to camshaft reference value discrepancy. A timing issue? The timing chain looked okay, but appearances can be deceiving. Did your Sentra have reduced power, sluggish response, and increased fuel consumption with the reference value error?

Yes, exactly those symptoms. I initially thought it was just bad fuel, but the reference value code kept coming back. After checking everything myself, I took it to a workshop. They replaced the crankshaft sensor and recalibrated something related to the camshaft. It sorted it out.

Thanks for the insight. Following your advice, I consulted a workshop. Diagnostics confirmed the defective crankshaft sensor. Replacement and recalibration, as you suggested, fixed the issue. The repair cost 340€.

I had something similar on my Sentra. Are you sure it's not a timing issue? Misfires can trigger similar symptoms and throw off those reference values. Did you check the timing belt or chain?
