Sentra intake hose leak
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Nissan Sentra owner noticed increased fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a loud hissing sound during acceleration, suspecting a leak in the intake hose. These symptoms align with a compromised intake hose, which can cause such issues. The solution involved confirming the defect and replacing the intake hose, which was a relatively inexpensive fix.

Did your Sentra exhibit the elevated fuel consumption, the check engine light, and the hissing during acceleration? What diagnostic procedures did you use to confirm the split or crack in the intake hose? Was the repair process arduous, or could a novice undertake it?

Yes, those were the exact symptoms. I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. It's a relatively cheap fix. Labor shouldn't be too expensive. I think the hose cost me around 100€.

Thanks for the help. I took my Sentra to a mechanic, and they confirmed a compromised intake hose. The defective component was replaced, and the total cost was approximately 100€.

I've seen similar behavior on my Sentra. Check the intake hose thoroughly. A split or crack there would explain the hissing and the other symptoms. It's like a vacuum cleaner with a hole in the hose – loses suction and makes a racket.
