Sequoia check engine light fuel consumption uneven idling

Hi, I'm having some car problems with my 2001 Toyota Sequoia with a gasoline engine. The check engine light is on, and I've noticed higher fuel consumption and uneven idling. I suspect it might be the knock sensor, possibly a defective cable or plug connection? It has 199005 km, I am a bit lost...

Hey, I had a similar issue with my Sequoia. Same symptoms - check engine light, poor fuel economy, and rough idle. Have you checked the sensor connections themselves? They can get corroded or loose over time.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly are those connections located? Any advice on how to check them properly without causing more damage?

They're usually under the intake manifold, a bit of a pain to get to. Honestly, given the symptoms and your suspicion, it might be worth getting it checked by a professional. Could save you some headaches. I had to replace mine; the whole repair was around 95€.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate the help. I'll take it to a workshop to check the connections and the sensor, since it seems like a tricky job and it may need replacement. Hopefully, it'll solve the issues!
