When you had this issue, were you able to manually override the fuel door release, or was it completely inoperable? Did you notice any specific conditions that seemed to trigger the problem?

Mine was totally stuck. Couldn't get it open any way I tried. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop; messing with fuel systems can be tricky.

The linkage was indeed defective, as suspected. The repair cost came to 210€, including parts and labor. Appreciate the advice!

I had a similar issue with my Sequoia. Check the electric actuator; sometimes it gets jammed, or the linkage gets disconnected. Is the release button inside the car doing anything at all?
