Sequoia Intake Hose Leak
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2023 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid experiencing high fuel consumption, a check engine light, and a hissing sound during acceleration, suspected to be due to an air intake leak. The issue was identified as a crack in the intake hose near the throttle body connection, a common failure point. Replacing the intake hose resolved the symptoms, restoring normal fuel consumption and eliminating the check engine light and hissing sound.

Where on the intake hose was the breach? Were there any visual cues, like discoloration, that helped you find it?

It was on the underside of the hose, near the throttle body connection. It was hard to see, but if you flex the hose, the crack should open up. I'd advise getting it professionally done.

Thanks for the guidance! I found a fissure in the intake hose, just like you said. A 100€ replacement fixed it. Fuel consumption is normal, the check engine light is off, and the hissing is gone. I appreciate it!

I had a similar issue on my Sequoia. Check the intake hose between the MAF sensor and the throttle body. It’s a common failure point, and a crack there would definitely cause those symptoms.
