Sequoia Transmission Shifting Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Toyota Sequoia Hybrid with 193,637 km exhibited implausible shifting behavior and intermittent transmission indicator lights, sometimes entering emergency mode. Initially suspected to be a transmission oil issue, the problem was identified as undervoltage affecting the transmission control module (TCM). After addressing the undervoltage and replacing the transmission oil, the shifting issues were resolved, and the warning lights ceased.

Undervoltage, huh? I hadn't considered that. How did you pinpoint that as the cause?

I initially thought it was the transmission oil as well. I replaced it, but the problem persisted. Eventually, the workshop diagnosed it as undervoltage causing the TCM to act up. I would strongly advise that you visit a workshop!

Thanks for the info. I took it to the shop, and you were spot on. Turns out undervoltage was the culprit, messing with the transmission. They replaced the transmission oil, which cost 240€. Shifts are smooth now, and no more warning lights. Appreciate the help!

I had a similar issue with my Sequoia. Symptoms sound very familiar. Have you checked for any undervoltage issues in the vehicle? That was the root cause of my transmission problems. The transmission is very sensitive, and undervoltage can cause all sorts of weird shifting problems.
