Serena anti theft alarm malfunction

Hi, I'm having trouble with the anti-theft alarm on my 2023 Nissan Serena hybrid. It's got about 160k km on the clock. The error memory has stored an error, and the alarm system seems to be completely non-functional. Has anyone experienced anything similar? I've checked for any obvious power failure or battery issues, but everything seems fine.

Hey there! I also own a Nissan Serena. I had a similar problem with my security alarm a while back. The alarm would just not work, and I remember reading something about the system being coded to activate the optical locking (indicators) which messed things up. Could that be your problem? Did you try checking the alarm sensor?

Thanks for the quick response! I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'coded to activate optical locking'. Could you elaborate a bit more on that? And where exactly is the alarm sensor located?

Sure. Basically, the system might be trying to use the indicators in a way that's causing a conflict. It's a known issue, apparently. I wasn't able to fix this by myself. Regarding the alarm sensor location, I'm not 100% certain on the Serena, but you're probably better off getting it checked by a workshop to be on the safe side. That's what I did, and it sorted the issue out.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I'll take it to a workshop then. They said that alarm system coded to activate optical locking was indeed the problem. Repair cost 45€. Appreciate your help!
