Serena engine power loss

I'm having a serious issue with my 2018 Nissan Serena hybrid. The check engine light is constantly on, and the car feels like it's lost a lot of its power. It's really struggling to accelerate, and my fuel consumption has gone through the roof! I've done some basic checks, like looking for loose wires and checking the air filter, but nothing seems obviously wrong. My car has 185896 km on it. Could it be a timing belt issue, or maybe something with the camshaft? Any ideas what could be causing these symptoms?

I'm not 100% sure that's your issue, but what you described sounds like the cam sensor problem I had. To be honest, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself unless you're pretty confident with car repairs. You'll need to access the timing belt area, and if you mess with the crankshaft position, things can get very expensive! My advice? Take it to a trusted mechanic and have them diagnose the crankshaft to camshaft reference value problem. It cost me around 340€, but saved me a lot of potential headaches.
