Serena hybrid sluggish start flickering lights

Hi, I'm having a strange issue with my 2022 Nissan Serena e-Power (hybrid). It has 153623 km on the clock. Recently, I've noticed the engine is a bit sluggish to start, almost like the battery is weak. The lights also seem to flicker sometimes, or are just generally dimmer than they used to be. I ran a basic OBD scan, but nothing obvious came up. I suspect it might be a bad battery sensor, as the voltage seems inconsistent. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Nissan Serena e-Power hybrid is experiencing sluggish engine starts and flickering or dim lights, suggesting a potential issue with the battery. Despite an OBD scan showing no obvious problems, the inconsistent voltage points to a likely faulty battery sensor. Replacing the battery sensor is recommended as a solution, as it resolved similar issues for another owner.

Hey, I had something similar happen with my Serena. Those flickering lights are a pain, right? I also got a weak start from the engine, plus the car was reporting all kind of weird errors. I'd definitely double-check that battery sensor. Seems like a likely culprit.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'similar', was it the exact same symptoms? Did the dimming/flickering lights also happen at idle, and under load? I am trying to narrow down the issue before I start throwing money at it. Also, can you recall what the eventual fix was?

Yep, same exact symptoms, flickering at idle and sometimes got worse when accelerating! I messed around trying to fix it myself for a couple weeks, but eventually I just bit the bullet and took it to a mechanic. Turned out it was the battery sensor like we suspected, needed to be replaced. Cost around 300€ if I remember correctly, but at least it fixed the issue!

Thanks a lot for confirming! I appreciate the insight, saves me a lot of time and headache. I'll get the battery sensor checked and replaced. Hopefully the cost will be similar for me (quoted 315€), and that will solve the problem. Cheers!
