Serena Throttle Valve Issue

Hi, I have a 2001 Nissan Serena with a diesel engine. It's showing symptoms of a defective throttle valve. I'm experiencing reduced engine power and the check engine light has come on. The car has 30354 km. I suspect the accelerator pedal module or the electronics inside it are defective. Has anyone seen anything similar?

Wow, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same issue with my Serena. The check engine light was driving me nuts! Reduced engine power too, like it was struggling to breathe, you know? Did you check the air intake system for any blockages or leaks? A faulty throttle sensor can also cause a response delay and trigger the check engine light, messing with the air flow.

Thanks for your input! So, was it definitely the throttle valve for you? What exactly was the problem and how did you fix it?

Yeah, pretty sure it was all pointing to the throttle valve, or at least the related module. A mechanic confirmed the electronics were failing. Honestly, I didn't try fixing it myself, it looked a bit too complicated. I would recommend going to a workshop to have it professionally checked, because a defective accelerator pedal module is no joke! You might end up stuck on the road.

Thanks for confirming. I took it to a local mechanic and they found out it was the electronics inside the accelerator pedal module as suspected. They replaced the defective part, and the issue is now resolved. The repair cost was 265€ Thanks again for your help!
