Serena Turbo Issues

My 2005 Nissan Serena diesel has a constantly on check engine light and jerks violently when accelerating. There's a strange whistling noise that turns into a loud hissing sound with harder acceleration. It sometimes even stalls at idle, burns fuel like crazy, and engine power is greatly reduced. Could this be the boost pressure sensor? The cable and plug look a little corroded. What else could it be?

I had similar issues with my Serena. Is the turbo kicking in at all? Whistling and hissing sounds point to the turbo system, and a dodgy boost pressure sensor could definitely cause those symptoms. Have you checked the hoses for any leaks or cracks? That can also throw things off.

Thanks! I will check the hoses. When you say 'similar issues', do you mean all the same symptoms? The jerking, the stalling, the noise... all of it? How did you fix it? What did it end up costing you?

Yep, pretty much all the same symptoms. I tried cleaning the sensor connections, but it didn't really solve the problem. Ended up just taking it to a workshop, they sorted it out pretty quick. Saved me a headache in the long run. Might be worth considering.

Thanks! I inspected the hoses, and they looked fine. Given what you said and what I'm experiencing, I'm going to take it to the shop. It was a defective cable/plug connection to the boost pressure sensor, and it cost me 95€ to get it fixed. Thanks again!
