Siena preheating lamp issue
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Fiat Siena diesel is experiencing a persistent preheating lamp issue, accompanied by a check engine light and smoke during acceleration. The problem is suspected to be an electrical fault, possibly related to the preheating control unit. A suggestion is made to check the cable or plug connection of the preheating unit, as this was a similar issue for another owner. The recommendation is to take the car to a workshop for a professional diagnosis and repair.

The cable? Where exactly is that located? I'm not exactly a whiz with car electronics. Is it easy to get to?

The plug connection can be a real bugger. Honestly, based on your description - smoke when accelerating too - and the fact it's all pointing to the preheating unit and its connections, I'd take it to a workshop to get it checked over. My local charged me 95€. It's probably a quicker fix than you tearing everything apart yourself.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I was dreading messing with the electrics myself. Workshop it is! I'll let you know what they find. Hopefully, it is the cable, and they don't try to rip me off for something bigger!

Whoa, sounds like a headache! I had almost the exact same thing happen with my Siena. Preheating issues can be a pain. Did you check the cable or plug connection of the preheating unit? That was the culprit for me.
