Sienna Steering Angle Sensor Coding

I used an OBD2 scanner and got a fault code for the steering angle sensor, pointing to a coding anomaly. I have the factory-installed Bridgestone Ecopia tires, and pressures are right. Since the scanner confirms the sensor fault, could I inspect or recalibrate it myself without replacing it?

Okay, if the OBD2 scanner is screaming 'steering angle sensor coding issue', then you're probably spot-on with your initial diagnosis. Messing with the steering angle sensor without the right tools and knowledge can be a recipe for disaster. Recalibrating it usually requires specialized software and dealer-level access. It's likely the sensor itself is fine, but the software is goofed. Honestly, save yourself the headache and potential safety risks. Find a reputable workshop with experience in Toyota hybrids; they can properly diagnose and recode or replace the sensor if necessary. Steering issues aren't something to gamble with.

I took it to a Toyota specialist, and they confirmed the coding fault in the steering angle sensor. They recalibrated it for 195€. The steering works fine now, and the vibration is gone. Thanks for the help!

Whoa, sounds like you've got a real wrestling match on your hands every time you turn the wheel! That vibrating steering wheel is a classic sign something's amiss with the steering. Since you suspect the steering angle sensor, have you tried checking for any fault codes using an OBD2 scanner? Sometimes, even if the dashboard doesn't light up like a Christmas tree, the ECU stores valuable clues. Also, what kind of tires are you running? Odd tire wear or inflation can sometimes mimic steering issues.
