Thanks for sharing your experience with the brake actuator motor issue. That helps narrow down the possible causes. Just wondering, do you remember roughly what you ended up paying for the complete repair? And has the electronic brake system been working properly since the fix? Asking because my Sierra is showing similar brake fault symptoms and I want to budget accordingly before heading to the shop. When electronic brake problems start, sometimes other related issues pop up later.

After getting the electronic brake system fixed at the shop, everything has worked perfectly for over 6 months now. The total repair bill came to 505 Euro for replacing the faulty electric motor in the brake caliper. This included the complete brake diagnostics, parts, labor and final system calibration. The vehicle safety systems are all functioning normally again with no warning lights or error codes since the repair. The parking brake engages smoothly every time. The mechanic explained that once the defective actuator motor is replaced and properly calibrated, these electronic brake issues typically dont return. In my case it was worth paying for a proper repair at a certified shop rather than trying cheaper fixes that might not solve the underlying brake switch and motor problems. The electronic parking brake is too important for vehicle safety to risk an incomplete repair.

Thanks everyone, wanted to follow up on how this turned out. Finally took my Sierra to a certified shop last week. The brake diagnostics confirmed it was indeed the actuator motor causing the parking brake failure. Total cost was 520 Euro which included a new caliper assembly with motor, labor, and system recalibration. The mechanic showed me the old unit and explained how the motor had seized up due to moisture getting inside. The electronic brake system has been working flawlessly since the repair, no more warning lights or system glitches. The parking brake engages smoothly and releases properly every time. Definitely glad I asked here first and knew what to expect. Having that information helped me avoid getting overcharged or having unnecessary work done. Now I can actually trust the electronic parking brake again when parking on hills.

Had the same electronic brake fault in my 2012 Canyon with 68000km. The parking brake warning kept lighting up and the system would not engage or disengage properly. After proper diagnostics, the issue was traced to a faulty brake actuator motor in the caliper. The electronic brake system had a seized motor unit, which prevented proper operation. This is actually a serious problem since it affects the safety systems and needs immediate attention. The repair required replacing the complete brake caliper assembly with the integrated motor unit. Its not a quick fix, the system needs proper recalibration after parts replacement to communicate correctly with the brake control module. A system glitch can sometimes trigger similar warnings, but when the parking brake stops responding completely, its typically the actuator motor. Make sure the shop runs a full diagnostic scan of the brake control module first to confirm the exact fault codes. Worth noting that brake switch problems can show similar symptoms, but those usually trigger different error codes. Have a certified shop check it, this repair needs specialized diagnostic equipment to properly reset the electronic brake system after service.
