Silverado fuel tank ventilation leak
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Chevrolet Silverado diesel with low mileage is experiencing a check engine light and occasional stalling at idle, suspected to be due to a fuel tank ventilation system leak. The issue may be caused by a defective activated charcoal filter, pressure sensor, or purge valve. A similar case was resolved by replacing the defective charcoal filter, and it is recommended to visit a workshop for proper diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly did you find the leak in your system? Was it obvious, or did you need special leak detection equipment?

It was a while ago, but I remember the leak being tough to find. I ended up taking it to a shop, and they confirmed my suspicion of a leak in the fuel tank ventilation system. They replaced the defective activated charcoal filter. I recommend you visit a workshop to avoid further issues.

Appreciate the help! I took it to the shop, and you nailed it – defective charcoal filter. Cost me 275€ to get it sorted. Thanks again!

I had a similar issue with my Silverado. Check for leaks in the fuel tank ventilation system. A defective pressure sensor or purge valve could also cause similar symptoms. I would check the air flow and look for system failures.
