Silverado power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado diesel experienced a significant power loss, increased fuel consumption, and a persistent check engine light. The initial suspicion was cylinder pressure fluctuation, but after checking the spark plugs, they appeared fine. A suggestion to inspect the fuel injectors led to the discovery of a faulty sensor causing injector misfires and pressure issues. Replacing the sensor resolved the problem, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Fuel injectors, huh? I hadn't considered those. What exactly did you experience with yours? Were there any other symptoms besides the knocking and turbo issue?

Yeah, the knocking was pretty noticeable, especially when accelerating. It felt like the engine was struggling. The garage confirmed it was the fuel injectors causing the issue and said the pressure was fluctuating. I'd suggest getting yours checked out by a professional, just to be safe.

Appreciate the advice! I took it to a mechanic, and you were spot on. Turns out, a faulty sensor was causing the injectors to misfire, which led to the cylinder pressure fluctuation. They replaced the sensor, and now it's running perfectly again. Best part? It was a quick fix and didn't cost me a dime!

Sounds rough. I had something similar happen on my Silverado. Felt like the engine was knocking, and the turbocharger wasn't kicking in properly. Like trying to run a marathon with a blocked nose! Have you checked your fuel injectors? Might be worth a look.
