Skoda Citigo Active hood fault

Okay, so I'm hoping someone can help me out here. I've got a 2020 Skoda Citigo, electric, with about 85000 km on the clock, and I'm getting an "Active hood fault" message on the dash. The airbag warning light is also on! I had the error memory read, and it says there's an issue, plus the spring actuators have been triggered. Could this be a big system fault related to car safety?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Skoda Citigo owner reported an "Active hood fault" message and an airbag warning light on the dashboard. The error memory indicated a problem with the spring actuators being triggered, suggesting a potential system fault related to car safety. The issue was traced to a defective acceleration sensor, part of the pedestrian safety system, which can cause confusion in the car's electronics. The recommended solution was to have the sensor checked and replaced by a professional due to its connection with the airbag system.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds awfully familiar! I had a similar issue with my Citigo a while back. The active hood fault message popped up, and the airbag light was on too. It's all part of the pedestrian safety system, and if one part goes haywire, it throws everything off. Did you get any error codes read?

Yeah, it did throw up an error code. The mechanic said something about a defective acceleration sensor. Is that what you had too? Where is that even located?

Sounds exactly like what happened to me. The acceleration sensor is part of the active hood system, which is designed to pop the hood up slightly in a pedestrian impact to lessen the blow. If the sensor is defective, the car's electronics get confused. I wouldn't mess with it myself; it's tied into the airbag system. Best to get it checked by a pro, as it's related to car safety. The system fault could cause issues with pedestrian safety.

Just wanted to say thanks for the help! Took it to a mechanic and they confirmed it was the acceleration sensor as you suspected. Cost me 315€ to get it sorted, which is a bit ouch, but at least it's fixed. Appreciate the advice!
