Skoda Citigo Electric Sun Blind Problem

My 2020 Skoda Citigo (electric) has a sun blind issue. The interior accessory has stopped working. The sunblind is stuck, won't retract or extend, and there's an error code stored. I suspect it's the motor, and I've been quoted 330€ for sunshade repair. Anyone else experienced this with their car interior or have experience with UV protection issues?

Summary of the thread

A 2020 Skoda Citigo electric vehicle experienced a sun blind issue where the accessory stopped working, remaining stuck and showing an error code. The problem was suspected to be a motor failure. After confirming the absence of unusual sounds and battery issues, it was recommended to seek professional inspection. The diagnosis confirmed a defective motor, and the repair resolved the issue.

I am familiar with the Skoda Citigo, though not specifically the electric variant. A similar issue presented itself in a petrol model I encountered. First, could you confirm if you hear any unusual sounds when attempting to operate the sun blind? A faint clicking or grinding might indicate a partial motor failure. Furthermore, has the vehicle's battery been recently replaced or experienced any significant discharge events? Such occurrences can sometimes introduce spurious errors in the vehicle's electronic control units.

Thanks for the quick reply. I don't hear any unusual sounds – just silence when I try to use the sun blind switch. The car battery seems fine, no recent replacements or issues there. Any thoughts based on that?

Given the absence of unusual sounds and a stable battery condition, the likelihood of a defective sun blind motor increases significantly. While a thorough diagnostic procedure is always recommended, the symptoms you describe align with a failing motor. My recommendation would be to proceed with a professional inspection at a reputable workshop. Attempting a self repair without proper equipment and expertise could potentially exacerbate the problem or introduce further complications.

Alright, I appreciate the confirmation. Took it to the workshop as suggested, and it was indeed the sun blind motor. 330€ later, the interior accessory is working perfectly again. Thanks for your help.
