That's a fair point. Is there any way to further isolate the issue to rule out the telematics unit, or does it really just come down to visually inspecting every centimeter of the wiring harness related to the emergency call system?

I wouldn't want to give misleading information. It does sound like a physical inspection of the relevant wiring is necessary, but I would probably suggest taking it to a workshop to have it checked. At least then you will know for sure.

Providing closure on this. As suspected, it was a faulty connector. 95€ later at the workshop, and the emergency call system is functioning again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Glad it was a simple fix and didn't require a full system reset, especially since it concerns car safety.

I'm not very familiar with automotive electronics, but a defective cable or plug connection sounds plausible given the symptoms you describe. Is it possible there could be an issue with the telematics unit itself, or is the error message specifically pointing towards a connection problem?
