Skoda Citigo Engine Running Rich

I'm having some trouble with my 2011 Skoda Citigo with a gasoline engine. It's got 112135 km on the clock, and the engine seems to be running way too rich. I'm experiencing reduced engine power, the check engine light is on, the engine is running rough, and fuel consumption has gone through the roof. It even jerks a bit when I accelerate. From what I've gathered, it could be a defective injection valve or injector. Has anyone else experienced this?

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my Citigo, check engine light, rough running, the works. Have you checked the oxygen sensor? How old is your air filter?

Okay, if the oxygen sensor is fine and the air filter is new, it's less likely to be those. A faulty catalytic converter is possible, but usually, you'd get specific codes for that. In my case, the diagnostic pointed directly to the fuel injectors. It might be worth getting them properly tested, but I'd bet that's where your problem lies. I ended up taking mine to a workshop to get it sorted.

The oxygen sensor seems fine according to the diagnostics tool. The air filter was changed recently. Could it really be the fuel injectors? I've read that a faulty catalytic converter can also cause similar issues.

It was the fuel injectors. I replaced them, and the Citigo runs like new. Fuel economy is back to normal, and the jerking is gone. The total cost, including labor, was 515€.
