Skoda Citigo Fuel Consumption and Starting Issues

I am writing to inquire about a potential issue with my 2018 Skoda Citigo (gasoline engine). The vehicle has approximately 90808 km. I've observed a noticeable increase in fuel consumption recently, and the car has been starting poorly, especially in colder conditions. I suspect a defective throttle valve, possibly related to the accelerator pedal module. Could this be affecting the engine throttle?

High fuel consumption and poor starting can definitely point to throttle issues. Have you checked the air intake for any obstructions? Is the throttle position sensor giving correct readings?

I haven't checked the throttle position sensor readings directly. Where is the best place to start diagnosing the sensor itself? Is there a common failure point I should inspect first?

Sensor diagnostics usually require specific tools. Given the symptoms, and your mention of the accelerator pedal module, a fault there could certainly impact the throttle valve operation. If you are not familiar with the process, I would suggest a professional diagnosis at a workshop. It could save you time and prevent further issues.

Understood. I appreciate the insight. I took it to a certified workshop and they confirmed the defective accelerator pedal module, which appears to be affecting the engine throttle. Repair set me back 205€, but the fuel efficiency seems to be improving already.
