Summary of the thread
A 2018 Skoda Citigo is experiencing gearbox issues, specifically slipping and unclean shifting. Preliminary checks suggest the problem may be due to transfer case oil wear, potentially caused by defective gears. A mechanic confirmed the issue with the transfer case, and the repair, including an oil change, is estimated to cost around 330€.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the oil level, it seemed fine. But you mentioned gear grinding – was that constant, or only during specific gear changes?

For me, the grinding was mostly noticeable going into 3rd and 5th gear. If the oil level is good and you're still getting those symptoms, especially with suspected mechanical wear, it's probably best to get it checked out by a workshop. They can drain the gear oil and check for metal shavings, which would confirm gear damage.

Appreciate the insight. Took it to a trusted mechanic and, as suspected, it's the transfer case. Defective gears causing excessive oil wear. Repair, including an oil change, will be around 330€. Thanks again!

Whoa, sounds rough! I had something similar happen with my old Renault Megane. Gearbox felt super clunky. Did you check the gear oil level? Low oil can definitely cause gear grinding and unclean shifts. It might be a cheap fix before you look at bigger problems.
