Skoda Citigo Gearbox Issues

My 2017 Skoda Citigo with a gasoline engine is giving me some grief. The engine warning light is on, and the gearbox is in emergency mode. It also slips sometimes, and I hear grinding noises when shifting. Error memory points to a transmission oil pressure sensor fault. Could a low oil level really cause all this?

Sounds like a similar issue I had with my Citigo. Engine light came on, and the shifting was awful. Did you check the oil level? That was the culprit in my case. Easy check before you go deeper.

Where exactly did you check the oil level? Was it just a simple dipstick check, or something more involved? And which pressure switch was faulty on your car?

Yes, it was exactly the same symptoms. The workshop checked it. I'm not sure where exactly the level was checked, but they mentioned it was quite low. I didn't have a pressure gauge, but they said the pressure switch was showing incorrect values due to the low oil. I would advise you to go to the workshop.

It was indeed low on gearbox oil. After topping it up and replacing the transmission oil pressure sensor, the error is gone. Total cost was 365€.
