Skoda Citigo knock sensor issue
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Skoda Citigo owner experienced a malfunction indicator lamp and a knock sensor error code, leading to higher fuel consumption and uneven idling. The owner suspected a defective cable or plug connection to the knock sensor. After confirming similar issues with another Citigo owner, the problem was identified as a corroded connector on the knock sensor harness. Cleaning the connector resolved the issue, turning off the malfunction indicator.

When you say 'similar', was it specifically the knock sensor throwing codes and causing these issues? Did you also experience poor ignition timing as a result, or just the rough idle and higher fuel consumption?

Indeed, the fault code pointed to the knock sensor. The symptoms were consistent with what you describe, yes. However, I am not qualified enough to advise on ignition timing. I ended up taking it to a workshop in the end. I would recommend you do the same.

Appreciate the confirmation. Turns out it was a corroded connector on the knock sensor harness, just as suspected. Cleaned it up, and the malfunction indicator is off. Total damage: 95€ for the diagnostic and some contact cleaner. Thanks again!

I drive a Citigo as well, and experienced similar car problems. Check engine light illuminated, rough idling, and the fuel consumption increased. Did you perhaps check the knock sensor itself, and the wiring? Is there any visible damage?
