When you had the issue, did the malfunction indicator illuminate on the dashboard? Was the error also related to the steering column itself, or a sensor issue within the steering wheel?

Indeed, the malfunction indicator did illuminate. The vehicle diagnostics pointed to the steering column, which houses the control module for the multifunction system. I would recommend a thorough check at a workshop. It could save you considerable time.

Acknowledged, thanks for the confirmation. Diagnostics confirmed a defective cable connection within the steering column. The control module was throwing errors related to the sensor issue. The repair, including parts and labor, came to 95€. Problem solved.

I experienced a very similar malfunction with my Citigo. The symptoms you describe mirror my own experience. Have you checked the slip ring? It is a common culprit in these cases.
